Kea are nationally endangered mountain parrots that live on the southern island of New Zealand. Kea are famous for their insatable curiosity, intelligence, playfulness, and their ability to adapt to changing circumstances. These characteristics have at times put them in conflict with people. Often described as cheeky or mischievous, kea are one of the most charismatic animals in the world. They need our support and protection to ensure their future.

Two Kea Chicks Hatch at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden
We are happy to report the 2 kea chicks hatched in April at the Cincinnati Zoo are doing well! Both are male and were named Sheldon and Dennis. Updated pictures are posted in "My Picasa Photos."
